ENSEIGNE DE MARCHAND DE PLUMES, PARIS Bronze, in the shape of a feather, adorned with a lobster, bearing the inscription "Blanzy Poure & Cie, La Boulonnaise" and the number "741". c. 1920. Height. 47 cm; Width. 9 cm; Depth. 5 cm. In 1846, Auguste Blanzy, along with Eugène Poure and other adventurers, set up a highly successful metal feather factory in Boulogne-sur-Mer's Bréquerecque district, employing up to 1,000 workers. Awarded prizes at world fairs, these feathers were exported all over the world.
