FONDERIE DE TUSEY IMPORTANT WALL FOUNTAIN FOR A STATION OF THE COMPAGNIE DU CHEMIN DE FER PARIS À ORLÉANS (PO) Cast-iron, the straight upper part hollowed out by a niche surmounted by a basin and topped by a curved pediment bearing the inscription "Eau potable" (Drinking water) on a copper plate. The lower part is scrolled and preceded by a basin. The whole is topped by a circular finial bearing the monogram "PO" for "Paris-Orléans". Height. 188 cm; Width. 127 cm; Depth. 83 cm. Damage. Sold by designation. Available at the Nogent-sur-Marne auction house. PARALLEL. A single fountain of a similar design, marked "L. GASNE, maître de forges à Tusey (Meuse)", installed in 1895, still stands today in Paris on the platforms of the Port-Royal railroad station. Louis Gasne owned the Tusey iron foundries in Vaucouleurs between 1874 and 1896. These foundries were renowned for the exceptional cast iron of the monumental fountains, rostral columns and candelabras of the Place de la Concorde. He won a gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle. He took over the Thiébaut foundry in 1901, which has adorned countless squares and gardens in Paris, notably with monumental works.
