FRANCO-FLEMISH SCHOOL CIRCA 1600
The ox and the dog
Two-board panel, reinforced.
35.5 x 55.5 cm.
Red number on the reverse of the frame and panel 9/1 C and a chalk inscription on the panel "Boccaccio".
Inscription on the frame:
Nothing pleases her more than the good of others, of which she sins so much.
The picture shows a saying from the month of June, when haymaking takes place.
The dog must be vigilant (after the efforts of haymaking) so that no one (she = the cow) steals the hay that has been brought in for the following winter.
