EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE, PARIS, 1889 - Lot 145
EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE, PARIS, 1889 RIVET D'ORIGINE DE LA TOUR EIFFEL Steel, cast in a Plexiglas pyramid, in which is also integrated a certificate of authenticity attesting that it is "one of the 2,500,000 rivets used to assemble the 18,000 parts of the Tower", n°152. CFEM - Compagnie Française d'Entreprises Métalliques. (This was the design office and builder of the Louvre pyramid). Height. 8.5 cm; Width. 11.5 cm; Depth. 11.5 cm. The Eiffel Tower, originally painted in "Venice Red", went through six different colors until it reached the one we see today. On our rivet, we can see the underlying layer of orange paint, which corresponds to the 1900 Exposition Universelle. For the Olympic Games of that year, the Tower changed color from "Eiffel Tower Brown" to the yellow-brown already used in 1907.
